Description: Alright everyone. This is something that has been spiraling in my head for the past months. What do you think about recent AKBingo! episodes? Do you think that the number of viewers are still consistent or has there been changes, whether it got more interesting or boring? Are there many international fans who are still interested in the show, which makes it crucial to make English subs for the show?I’m asking this because I have not been able to sub many episodes for some time. To be honest, I have not been watching the show nor am I enthusiastic about it as much as before. The main reason is I find that the show has become quite bland. Maybe it’s because I haven’t fully embraced Woman Rush Hour as the host. In fact, at times I feel like I’m just watching AKB48 members and Muramoto featuring Paradise. Sure, Bad Boys was like that as well with Kiyoto being the secondary host, next to Sata. But Kiyoto had his moments and what pulled some audience towards him was the moments when he would dress up as anything related to the segment (a professor for Tozen segment, super random characters in AKBest 10 etc). I can give Muramoto a pat on the back because he has been doing a good job by giving lots of attention to underrated members (I like how Kii-chan (Sato Kiara) stood out in this week’s episode), and at times I do enjoy his suggestive statements.Other than that, I noticed that the show is really lacking games now. Even though I can understand Japanese, I imagine being someone who doesn’t understand the language at all, how can I enjoy the show if I can’t understand a word? What makes this worse is the piling of talking segments. I know it is a variety show, but there’s not much laughter if there’s too many talking. If we go back to Bad Boys’ era, there was a lot more games where you can just enjoy watching the girls fall into powder or mud pits, playing sports, or even ride a bike within the studio (how interesting is that?) Not only that, I feel like with these talking segments, only certain members are able to speak out and get the camera frame for themselves (regardless if the member is popular or not), meanwhile other members look like as if they’re just background decorations. Remember Shoujiki Shogi where even bystanders may get injured? That’s what I’d love to see again. I feel like the girls are being in their comfort zone too much. Long story short, less talking, more action please AKBingo! If I missed some interesting/funny stuff in new episodes, that proves how less interested I am in the show.
Don’t get me wrong, I still download the show every week, and watch it when I have the time, it’s just that when I do watch it, I’d just skim them through. I need to know if am I still needed by fans of this show. So my biggest question for today is, should the show continue being subbed?
